Aretta Jocelyn Howe
June 3, 1948 – April 6, 2026
Aretta Jocelyn Howe, 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 6, 2026, after a fight with cancer.
Born on June 3, 1948, in Titusville, Pennsylvania, Aretta spent many years in California, where she raised her family of five children. In 1997, she moved to the Arlington/Fort Worth area to be closer to her youngest child, where she remained for the rest of her life.
Aretta found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved watching classic movies and, earlier in life, enjoyed cooking for her family. She had a deep affection for animals of all kinds—especially dogs—and over the years cared for a wide variety of pets, including birds, cats, and even a ferret. She also enjoyed shopping, particularly browsing for treasures at Walmart and discovering unique finds online.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angel Curtis; her son, Robert Bruce Brewer; and her father, Robert Howe. She never had the opportunity to know her mother.
Aretta is survived by her children, Bobby White, Dawn Lang, and Jackie Lang; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Karen Anderson; her brother, Alvin Howe; and several nieces and nephews.
Aretta will be remembered for her love of family, her independent spirit, and her unique personality that left a lasting impression on those who knew her.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
