Larry Wayne Haynes

Larry Wayne Haynes, 68, of Glenn Heights, Texas, passed away on August 28, 2026, in Ennis, Texas, following a lengthy illness.

Larry was born on August 2, 1958, in Dallas, Texas, to Howard Gene Haynes and Elgia Henderson Haynes. The fourth of twelve children, Larry grew up as part of a large family. He had made his home in Glenn Heights for the past eight years.

A hardworking man throughout his life, Larry spent more than 30 years in the roofing trade, working on both new homes and remodeling projects. His many years in the profession reflected the experience and dedication of someone who knew the value of a hard day's work.

Those who knew Larry also knew he enjoyed life on his own terms. He appreciated a good drink and was known to be able to hold his own with just about anyone—a distinction remembered by his family with a smile.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Gene and Elgia Henderson Haynes; his son, Matthew Wayne Haynes; his brothers, Jimmy, Brian, and Kenneth; and his sister, Angie.

He is survived by his wife, Nickie Haynes; his son, Daniel Haynes of Gun Barrel City, Texas; and his seven brothers and sisters, Kathy Bailey, Gene Haynes, Hazel Harwell, Becca Cuneo, Barbara Martin, Tommy Haynes, and William Haynes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry's family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
