Paul Edward Castillo passed away on August 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends. He was born on March 6, 1958, in San Antonio, Texas, to Lou and Helen Castillo. Paul graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio in 1976 and later graduated from the University of North Texas (UNT).

He enjoyed a long and successful career in advertising and marketing, where his intelligence, creativity, and strong work ethic earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Throughout his life, Paul was deeply committed to serving his community. He volunteered for Henry Cisneros’s successful campaign for mayor of San Antonio in 1981, beginning a lifelong dedication to civic engagement. As his children became involved in sports and school activities, Paul started volunteering as a coach and mentor, eventually taking on leadership roles in several organizations. He served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Lewisville Area Soccer Association beginning in 2007 and joined the Board of Directors of Communities in Schools of North Texas in 2009.

Above all, Paul was a devoted father, son, brother, husband, and friend. He possessed a warm and generous spirit, a genuine kindness, and an enduring love for life. Whether in his professional career or daily interactions, Paul approached others with compassion, integrity, and a willingness to help. His presence brought people together—and comfort and encouragement to those fortunate to know him.

In his free time, Paul enjoyed watching sports, television, and movies. He was a lifelong San Antonio Spurs fan and an avid soccer fan. Most of all, he treasured time spent with family and friends, especially his three sons, who were the center of his life and greatest source of pride. Paul regularly traveled to San Antonio to visit his family, including his aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, whom he loved very much.

Paul is survived by his three sons and their partners: Kevin Castillo and Beth Reilly, Brian Castillo and Marissa Lafreniere, and Zach Castillo and Cynthia Lee; his parents, Lou and Helen Castillo; his sister, Laura Ibarra; his brothers, Roland and John Castillo; his wife, Verónica Castillo; his stepchildren, Alex and Kaley Scheer, and Nicole and Stacen Buchholz; and his beloved step-grandchildren, Sebastián, Zoey, Santiago, Oliver, and Luca.

Paul’s legacy of love, service, generosity, and dedication to family will live on in the many lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
