Listen to Obituary

Robert Alan “Bob” O’Connor, 61, of Arlington, Texas, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026.

Born in Lubbock, Texas, Bob was the youngest child of Raymond and Beverly. He grew up in Amarillo, where he quickly distinguished himself as a natural athlete. He excelled in basketball and loved all sports. He was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan all of his life.

Even as a young man, Bob possessed a sharp wit and kept himself well informed about current events, enjoying thoughtful conversations about what was happening in the world around him. A man of many interests, Bob loved golf, fishing, and enjoyed any time outdoors.

Bob attended Amarillo College and Texas Tech University before beginning what would become a lifelong career in carpentry and construction. For more than 40 years, he dedicated himself to his craft, traveling across the United States to work on projects of all sizes. Over time, he became a master carpenter, with companies requesting him by name. He took pride in his precision and workmanship, earning a reputation for integrity, reliability, and incredible work ethic. Bob also shared his knowledge generously, teaching and mentoring others in the construction industry and helping shape the next generation of craftsmen.

Raised in the Catholic Church, Bob quietly practiced his faith throughout his life. Though he experienced profound loss early — losing his mother, Beverly, at the age of 13 — Bob carried himself with resilience and strength. He had a generous spirit and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. He grew especially close to his grandmother, Lucielle Sherwood, and his mother-in-law, Margaret Buchan while helping meet their needs.

In 2000, Bob moved to Arlington, Texas, shortly after meeting the love of his life, Lisa Sinayi. The two shared nearly 25 years together through life’s ups and downs, never losing sight of their love for each other. Bob loved a good debate, often referring to himself as “the mayor of Realville” and reminding others that “nobody gets out of this life alive”— phrases that reflected both his humor and his straightforward view of life.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lisa Sinayi of Arlington; his siblings, Raymond O’Connor, Jr., James O’Connor, Thomas O’Connor, Christine Stickrod, Kathleen Sievek, and Erin O’Connor; his stepmother, Rennie O’Connor; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly O’Connor and Raymond O’Connor, Sr.; his sister, Beth Hinojos; and his brother, Phillip O’Connor, who died in infancy.

His legacy lives on in the structures he built, the people he mentored, and the many lives he touched through his steady presence, generous heart, and unmistakable sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
