After a courageous battle with cancer, Thomas Allen Wolford, age 61, of Burleson, Texas, received the gift of being welcomed Home by his Lord and Savior on Christmas Day.
Thomas was a fiercely independent man and a hard worker throughout his life. From a young age, he had a deep love for the outdoors—especially fishing—so much so that he was once known to skip school just to be at the lake. Nature was his refuge, and one of his greatest joys in life was simply sitting on the porch, smoking and quietly watching the world go by.
Family meant everything to Thomas. He was a devoted and caring brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and great-uncle, and he took great pride in those roles. During his illness, he was thankful for the care provided by his brother, Charles, and sister-in-law, Mary Jane, and nephew Matthew. Even while facing his own challenges, Thomas worried about his brother’s well-being, a reflection of the deep love he carried for his family.
Thomas also found joy in simple pleasures—especially barbecuing and grilling chicken and pork chops for those he loved. After moving in with Charles, he formed a special bond with Kamri, one of Charles’ dogs. Though Kamri was known to be difficult and wary of most people, Thomas became one of the few she trusted. He was a steady and comforting presence for her, particularly during storms, always making sure she felt safe and cared for. Their quiet companionship brought him great comfort.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Louise Wolford; two brothers, Sammy Eugene Wolford, Jr. and Richard Lee Wolford; and his sister, Susie Carroll.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Jane Wolford; his sister, Annie Killian; nieces, Macey Louise Killian, Jessie Christine Killian, and Jessica Farrell; great-nephews, Aiden Jeremiah Boone and Logan Isaiah Boone; and nephews, Jason Lee Wolford and Matthew Pearson, for whom he held a special place in his heart.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Gateway Hospice for the compassion, care, and support shown to Thomas and his family during his illness.
Thomas will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of nature, his loyalty to family, and the gentle way he cared for those—both people and animals—who were fortunate enough to be part of his life.
